Midtown Alliance’s new pedestrian causeway and throughfare renews the MARTA Midtown experience and creates the first phase of Art Walk, a 5-block urban rejuvenation plan. The project aligns a streetscape and liner park connection between Midtown MARTA and Arts Center MARTA and follows the historic Peachtree Walk. This redevelopment will bridge public and private uses to create an ‘epicenter’ of public realm space for art, entertainment, and sense of place.
AFTER: The rectilinear design along with an extensive amount of hardscape is softened by the abundance of luscious plantings combined with the subtle accents of specimen trees.
AFTER: The urban feel features vibrant landscaping with plantings offering a calming green space. Additional seating in the form of modern benches complements the plaza, providing a comfortable spot for relaxation within the artistic and architectural elements.
AFTER: Seamlessly linking art, nature, and transit, the plaza provides a vibrant, welcoming pathway connecting to the MARTA station across the street, enhancing accessibility and community flow.
AFTER: The design highlights the urban space filled with vibrant murals, lush shrubbery, and festive lights, blending art and nature.
AFTER: At night, the space is lit up with vibrant lights illuminating the trees, sculptures, and pathways. The colorful glow transforms the area into a lively and inviting destination that draws people into the space.
AFTER: The full and blooming plantings along with the specimen trees contrasts off the façade of the building, creating a more inviting space
