A Garden to Explore and Learn

There were many goals with this garden: To provide hands-on learning opportunities for students to explore topics like biology, ecology, nutrition, and sustainability; to create a habitat for pollinators and promote biodiversity while teaching students the importance of caring for the environment; to encourage healthy eating habits by involving students in the process of growing, harvesting, and consuming fresh vegetables; to foster a sense of community among students, teachers, and parents through shared responsibility and collaboration in the garden's upkeep; to teach students valuable skills such as teamwork, responsibility, problem-solving, and patience through hands-on gardening activities; to introduce concepts of sustainable agriculture, composting, and water conservation as part of the school's broader eco-conscious initiatives; and to teach the children the importance of using organic material and never pesticides in the garden.

BEFORE: The garden space before construction.

DURING: Leveling the boxes and making a symmetrical design.

AFTER: Overhead view of planted garden.

AFTER: Children help tend the garden as part of the learning process.

AFTER: Plants growing - organic fertilizers make the difference.
