Kieffer Residence: A Masterclass in Year-Round Greenery
The Kieffer Residence project, managed by Ed Castro Landscape, was driven by a singular, clear vision: to maintain a vibrant, lush green Fescue lawn that remains pristine throughout every season. Led by designer Jason Hamacher, the team assumed management of the property in late 2022, bringing a commitment to high-level precision and aesthetic excellence to the estate. The ultimate goal was to ensure the exterior remained a clean, presentable, and inviting space for visitors and guests year-round.
Achieving a perfect Fescue lawn in the Georgia climate required navigating significant obstacles, most notably persistent weed control. To overcome these challenges, the maintenance crew implemented a rigorous and scientifically timed schedule of aeration, overseeding, and fertilization. By utilizing strategic "spray outs" and expert timing, the team successfully eliminated invasive weeds, allowing the turf to reach its peak health and appearance just as the landscape transitioned into the winter months.
Beyond the turf itself, the project serves as a showcase of the "precision and patience" required for high-detail landscape upkeep. This includes the symmetrical pruning of signature hydrangeas, the maintenance of a neat Loropetalum hedge, and the meticulous trimming of architectural features like horsetail plants and ivy beds. From the clean lines of the crushed gravel pathways to the uniform patterns in the freshly mowed grass, every detail reflects a dedication to preserving the home’s refined curb appeal through expert management.
