University of Georgia Horticulture Presents:
Landscape Update

This program is designed for the commercial landscaper or ground maintenance personnel and will cover a number of landscape management issues. Topics will include site analysis, planting and fertilizing and identifying nutrient-related problems in ornamentals. We’ll discuss basic landscape pests and biological control options. We will also have a section on how to manage turf as well as how to troubleshoot problems in the landscape. CEU and pesticide license credits have been applied for.

9:00-9:45: Bed Preparation, Soil Analysis & Planting– Bob Westerfield

  • Soil testing and pH adjustment, amendments, appropriate planting techniques

9:45-10:45: Identifying Nutritional Disorders– Bodie Pennisi

  • Macro- and micronutrient disorders, common symptoms and remedies

10:45 – 11:00: Break

11:00-12:00: Getting the Most of Your Turf – Clint Waltz

  • Proper selection and best management practices of warm-season turf

12:00-12:45: Lunch (included)

12:45-1:45: Basic Landscape Pest and Natural Enemies ID – Bethany Harris

  • Identification of common landscape pests and biological control

1:45-2:45: Troubleshooting Common Problems in Landscape Ornamentals – Bob Westerfield

  • Common issues in landscapes: drought, drainage problems, root rots and aerial blights, mildews

2:45-3:00:  CEU Credits
